What does WPM (speed) mean?
Words per minute, the standard Morse code speed unit, based on how many times the reference word "PARIS" (50 units including its trailing space) could be sent in a minute: unit length (ms) = 1200 รท WPM.
What are the timing ratios?
Following the international standard (ITU-R M.1677-1): a dot = 1 unit, a dash = 3 units, the gap within a character = 1 unit, the gap between characters = 3 units, and the gap between words = 7 units.
What happens with unsupported characters?
Any character with no entry in the Morse code table is silently skipped.
