How to use

How the calculation works
Fuel cost is the amount of fuel needed multiplied by the price per litre. The fuel needed is distance ÷ fuel economy (km/L), so fuel cost = distance ÷ fuel economy × price per litre. With several legs, the distances are added before calculating. With "round trip" on, the total distance is doubled first. The final amount is rounded up to the next whole yen. Accuracy depends on the fuel economy figure. Brochure figures (such as the WLTC cycle) are measured under fixed test conditions; real-world economy varies a lot with traffic, air conditioning, passengers, luggage and driving style. If you know your car's actual economy, using it gives a better estimate.
Worked example
Driving 300 km in a car doing 15 km/L with fuel at ¥170/L 1. Fuel needed: 300 ÷ 15 = 20 L 2. Cost: 20 × 170 = ¥3,400 A round trip is 600 km and ¥6,800. If economy drops to 12 km/L, the same trip costs 300 ÷ 12 × 170 = ¥4,250 — ¥850 more.
