How the calculation works
This tool calculates the gain or loss from buying and selling a stock, including trading fees. Purchase amount = buy price ร shares Total cost = purchase amount + purchase amount ร buy fee rate Sale amount = sell price ร shares Net proceeds = sale amount โ sale amount ร sell fee rate Profit = net proceeds โ total cost Return = profit รท total cost ร 100 Fees are entered as a percentage of the trade value. If your broker charges no commission, enter 0. Losses are shown with a minus sign.
Worked example

Things to be aware of
- Profit shown here is before tax. Trades in a Japanese NISA account are tax-free.
- Dividends and shareholder perks are not included. Use the dividend yield calculator for dividend returns.
- Japanese stocks normally trade in lots of 100 shares. Fractional (odd-lot) trading can have a different fee structure.

Where can I find the fee rate?
Check your brokerage's fee schedule page. Many brokers use a percentage-based fee tied to the trade amount.
Are dividends included in the profit calculation?
No, this tool only calculates the capital gain/loss from buying and selling. Dividend income isn't included โ use the Dividend Yield Calculator alongside it for that.
