How to use
- Enter the amount of your planned purchase.
- Enter the name and reward rate (%) for each payment method you want to compare. Use "+ Add option" to add more.
- Points earned for each option are calculated automatically, and the best deal gets a "Best value" badge.
How the calculation works
This tool compares how many points you earn on the same purchase with payment methods that have different reward rates, such as credit cards, QR-code payments and loyalty cards. You can compare up to five options. If you can stack a card's reward rate with campaigns or cashback sites, enter the combined rate to see the total reward.
Worked example
Purchase of ยฅ10,000 Option 1: 1.0% โ 100 points (effective price ยฅ9,900) Option 2: 1.5% โ 150 points (effective price ยฅ9,850) The difference is 50 points. If you put ยฅ100,000 a month on the card, a 0.5% difference adds up to 100,000 ร 0.5% ร 12 = ยฅ6,000 a year.
Things to be aware of
- Rewards often come with monthly caps, excluded items or rules such as one point per ยฅ200 (rounded down), so actual points can be lower than calculated.
- For points not worth ยฅ1 each (such as airline miles), enter the reward rate multiplied by the yen value of one point.
- Points expire. Points you will never use are worth nothing, so favour points you will actually spend.

Are points assumed to be worth 1 point = ยฅ1?
Yes, this tool treats the points earned as their direct yen-equivalent value. If a point is worth something different, adjust the reward rate you enter accordingly.
How many reward rates can I compare at once?
Up to 5 options at a time.
Does this account for point caps or excluded items?
No, this tool only compares simple reward rates. Actual rewards may have caps or exclude certain items, so check each service's terms separately.
