๐Ÿชด Plant Watering Schedule

Next watering date2026-01-08In 7 days

Enter the last date you watered a plant and its watering interval (in days) to calculate the next watering date. Thereโ€™s no per-species database โ€” it works from whatever interval you know works for your plant.

How to use

  1. Enter the last date you watered.
  2. Enter the watering interval (days).
  3. The next watering date, and how many days away it is, are shown automatically.

How the calculation works

Enter when you last watered a plant and how often it needs water to see the next watering date and how many days away it is. If the date has passed, it shows how many days overdue it is. Both the last watering date and the reference date start as today. Change the reference date to, say, the day you return from a trip to see whether the plant needs water then. It uses only the interval you enter, with no plant database, so it works for any plant.

Worked example

Last watered September 10, every 7 days, today September 19 Next watering September 17 โ†’ โ€œ2 days overdueโ€ Typical intervals (vary by season and position) Most houseplants: when the surface of the soil is dry in spring to autumn (every 5โ€“7 days), less in winter (every 10โ€“14 days) Succulents and cacti: once the soil is completely dry (every 10โ€“20 days)

Things to be aware of

  • The number of days is only a guide. Feeling whether the soil is dry before watering is the surest method.
  • Overwatering causes root rot. Empty water left standing in the saucer.
  • Plants grow slowly in winter, so longer intervals are usual.

FAQ

How do I decide the watering interval?

This tool has no per-plant database, so set the interval yourself based on your plantโ€™s needs and how quickly the soil dries out.

Can I change "today"?

Yes โ€” useful for planning watering around a trip, for example, by changing the reference date to any date you like.

What happens if watering is overdue?

If the next watering date has already passed, the tool shows how many days overdue it is.
