How to use
- Choose the "Count business days" or "Add business days" mode.
- In "Count business days" mode, enter a start and end date to see the number of business days between them.
- In "Add business days" mode, enter a base date and a number of business days to add, and the resulting date is shown.
How the calculation works
This tool counts business days (weekdays) with Saturdays and Sundays off, or finds the date a given number of business days away. Tick โAlso skip Japanese public holidaysโ to treat national holidays, substitute holidays and Citizensโ Holidays as days off too (applied to dates from 2020 onward). Count business days: counts the business days between the start and end dates, including both. Swapping the two dates gives the same result. Add business days: starts counting the day after the base date and shows the business day that many days later. A negative number counts backwards.

Things to be aware of
- Company-specific closures such as New Year or Obon are not included; subtract them yourself.
- For a contractโs โwithin X business daysโ, whether the starting day counts changes the answer by one. Check how your contract defines it.
- Up to 100,000 business days (about 380 years) can be added.
FAQ
Does this account for public holidays?
Yes. With โAlso skip Japanese public holidaysโ ticked (the default), national holidays, substitute holidays and Citizensโ Holidays from 2020 onward are treated as days off. Untick it to skip weekends only.
What happens if I enter a negative number of business days?
In โAdd business daysโ mode, a negative value calculates a business day before the base date.
Is this useful for calculating delivery deadlines?
