๐ง Email QR Code Generator
Enter an email address, subject, and body to generate a QR code that opens a pre-filled email compose screen when scanned with a phone. Handy for printing on a business card or flyer to make it easy for people to reach you.
How to use
- Enter the recipient's email address.
- Optionally pre-fill a subject and body.
- The QR code is generated automatically. Use the "PNG" or "SVG" buttons to download it.
How the calculation works
Enter an email address, subject and body to make a QR code that opens a new email with everything filled in. The code holds a mailto link (RFC 6068): mailto:info@example.com?subject=Enquiry&body=Message The subject and body are percent-encoded (like %E3%81%8Aโฆ) so spaces, Japanese and symbols come through correctly. Line breaks in the body are converted to CRLF, the email standard.
Worked example
To โinfo@example.comโ with the subject โBrochure requestโ mailto:info@example.com?subject=Brochure%20request Print it on posters or flyers as โEmail usโ so people cannot mistype the address.
Things to be aware of
- People can review and edit the email before sending; nothing is sent automatically.
- A long body makes the code finer and harder to scan. Keep the body short.
- On devices without a mail app set up, scanning may do nothing.
FAQ
Can I skip the subject and body?
Yes โ an email address alone is enough. Adding a subject or body pre-fills them in the compose screen when scanned.
Does this work with any scanning app?
Most QR reader apps and phone camera apps recognize mailto: links and can launch the mail app directly.
Is what I enter sent to a server?
No โ the QR code is generated entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
