Enter text to generate a QR code

Generate a QR code from text or a URL instantly. Customize the color and error correction level, then download it as SVG or PNG. Great for a business card, flyer, or in-store signage.

How to use

  1. Enter text or a URL into the input box.
  2. Adjust the color and error correction level if needed.
  3. Click "Copy SVG" or the download button to get the result.

How the calculation works

Turn text or a URL into a QR code and save it as SVG or PNG. Choose the colours and error correction level. Everything is generated in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere. QR codes are two-dimensional codes developed by Denso Wave in 1994 and can be read from any direction. They range from 21ร—21 modules (version 1) to 177ร—177 (version 40), chosen automatically to fit what you enter. Error correction levels (roughly how much of the code can be damaged and still read) L: about 7% M: about 15% Q: about 25% H: about 30% Japanese and other non-Latin text is written as UTF-8; we have checked that the widely used ZXing decoder reads it back correctly.

Worked example

The URL โ€œhttps://example.comโ€ โ†’ a small code of about version 2 (25ร—25 modules) Maximum capacity (version 40, level L) Digits only: 7,089 Alphanumeric (upper case and some symbols): 4,296 Bytes (URLs, Japanese and so on): 2,953 bytes (a Japanese character is about 3 bytes in UTF-8) Printing guide: make the code at least a tenth of the scanning distance (3 cm square to read from 30 cm).

Things to be aware of

  • Shrinking the white margin around the code (the quiet zone) can stop it scanning. Leave at least four modules of margin.
  • Dark code on a light background is the norm. Some readers cannot read inverted colours.
  • โ€œQR Codeโ€ is a registered trademark of Denso Wave.

FAQ

Can I change the QR code's color?

Yes โ€” set custom foreground and background colors to match your design.

What is error correction level?

It's a redundancy setting that lets a QR code still be readable even if part of it is dirty or obscured. Higher levels tolerate more damage but make the code slightly more complex.

Is this suitable for a business card or flyer?

Yes โ€” download it as SVG for print-quality output that stays sharp at any size, ideal for business cards, flyers, or posters.

Is the generated QR code stored on a server?

No, generation happens entirely in your browser and the text you entered is never sent externally.

Can I add a logo in the center?

The current version only supports color customization; embedding a logo image isn't supported.
