How the calculation works
This tool adjusts colour with the browser's built-in image filters โ the same mechanism as CSS filters. It combines brightness, contrast, saturate, hue-rotate, grayscale and sepia, draws the result to a Canvas, and exports it. Roughly: brightness multiplies each pixel's colour values, so 100% leaves the image unchanged and 200% doubles it. Contrast stretches or compresses the difference between light and dark around the midtones. Saturation controls vividness; 0% turns the image grey. Hue rotation turns every colour round the colour wheel by the given angle. The filters are applied one after another in a fixed order, so the same settings can look different in combination than individually.
Worked example
Correcting a photo taken in a dim room 1. Raise brightness to 120% 2. If that leaves it looking washed out, raise contrast to around 110% 3. If the colours look dull, raise saturation to 110% For a vintage look, set sepia to 100% for an overall brown tone. Grayscale at 100% gives a black-and-white photo.
Things to be aware of
- Pushing brightness too far clips highlights to pure white, which cannot be recovered from the exported image.
- Saving as JPEG loses transparency.
- EXIF data is not included in the output.
- In some older browsers, certain filters may not be applied to the exported image.

Can I undo my changes back to the original?
Yes โ use "Reset" to return all adjustment sliders to their default values.
Where is my edited image stored?
Everything is processed in your browser, so nothing is sent to a server until you click download.
Can I brighten a photo that came out too dark?
Yes โ raising the brightness and contrast sliders can make an underexposed photo much easier to see.
Can I make a photo look black and white?
