Enter the number of pins knocked down in each frame and automatically calculate your official bowling score โ including strike and spare bonus points. Handles the special 10th-frame rules (a possible third roll) too.
How to use
- For each frame, enter the pins knocked down on the 1st and 2nd rolls (and 3rd roll for frame 10, when applicable).
- For a strike, enter "10" on the 1st roll (the 2nd roll field is automatically disabled).
- As each frame's score becomes determinable, the running cumulative score is shown automatically.
How the calculation works
Enter the pins knocked down in each frame and the tool scores the game by the official rules. Strike (10 pins on the first ball): 10 + the pins from the next two balls Spare (10 pins with two balls): 10 + the pins from the next ball Otherwise: the total of the two balls In the 10th frame, a strike or spare earns a third ball. A frameโs running total appears once its bonus is known (after the following balls are entered). If two balls in a frame add up to more than 10 pins, the second is corrected to the number of pins left standing.
Worked example

Things to be aware of
- On score sheets, a strike is โXโ, a spare โ/โ and a gutter ball (0 pins) โ-โ.
- To fix a mistake, change that frameโs numbers and everything after it is recalculated.
- Rough averages: around 100 for beginners, 200 or more for advanced bowlers.
FAQ
Why doesn't a strike or spare's score show up right away?
A strike or spare's bonus points depend on the results of the next roll (or two), so that frame's score stays hidden (shown as "โ") until enough future rolls have been entered.
When can I enter the 3rd roll in frame 10?
The 3rd roll field is only enabled if frame 10's 1st roll is a strike, or the 1st and 2nd rolls together add up to 10 (a spare).
What if I made a mistake entering a value?
Just edit that frame's number directly and every later score recalculates automatically. Use the "Reset" button to start completely over.
