๐ Color Memory Game
Watch a sequence of colors light up, then repeat it back in the same order. Each time you get it right, the sequence grows by one more step โ one wrong move and the game ends. See how many steps you can remember.
How to use
- Press "Start" to begin the game.
- Watch carefully and memorize the order the colors light up in.
- Once it's done, press the buttons in the same order. A correct answer extends the sequence by one step.
How the calculation works
Four buttons, red, green, blue and yellow, light up in a sequence. Press them back in the same order. Each time you succeed, one more colour is added to the end and the sequence plays again from the start. One mistake ends the game, and the level you reached (the length you remembered) is your score. Colours light up about 0.8 seconds apart. Each added colour is chosen at random, so the same colour can repeat. It plays like Simon, the electronic game released in 1978.
Worked example
Level 1: red Level 2: red โ blue Level 3: red โ blue โ blue Level 4: red โ blue โ blue โ yellow People are often said to hold about seven items in short-term memory at once. Getting past 10 is a strong result.
Things to be aware of
- Saying the colours aloud (โred, blue, blue, yellowโ) or grouping them in chunks makes long sequences easier to remember.
- Your record lasts only while the page is open.
- Buttons cannot be pressed while the sequence plays; wait for it to finish.
